On certain Chevrolet (and one Chrysler) applications, the cam bolt hole area was recessed in order to accommodate the special hex bolts which we supplied with the set.  This design worked fine over the years, but customer feedback has led us to make the following improvement. The bolt hole area is no longer recessed, but instead is now flush with the rest of the part.

This small change allows additional user options –

  • no longer “locked in” to our bolts, can now use bolt of choice
  • reduces instances of “bolt gouging” which was sometimes evident after repeated us
  • If desired, installer can now use cam reatining plate (minor modifications to retainer plate necessary to accomodate the hex bushing).

SETS AFFECTED BY THIS CHANGE:
9-3100A, B, C, D,  9-3110A,  9-3145A, B,  9-3146A, B,  9-3147A,  9-3149A,  9-3155A

As a result of this change, we no longer supply the hex cam bolts in these sets.

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT:

If you are using this new design sprocket with one of our Quick Button Two Piece Timing Covers, please note that you must not use the hex bolts supplied with our previous sets.  The hex bolts had a raised head and if used with the new design cam sprocket they will interfere with the cover.

As always, please be sure to check for proper clearances before starting engine.
